Reedsport used a strong overall game to beat Glide 36-26 and finish the season with two consecutive wins and a 5-5 season.
“It's just a really great way to end the season for the seniors,” coach Steve Chase said.
“It was a good team effort all the way around.”
The seniors on Reedsport's roster were David King, Ryan Smith, Blair Swanner, Nic Morris, Brian Law, Brandon Neves, Ryan Porter, Robert Christy, Mike Cassaro and Devon Orr.
King had to step in and play quarterback in the season finale because starter Adam Chase had the flu.
“David King stepped up and did an outstanding job,” coach Chase said. “He threw some good passes and we didn't have any turnovers.”
Smith and Morris each had two touchdown runs and Cory Christoffersen caught a 49-yard scoring pass from King in the third quarter. Smith scored on touchdown runs of 11 and 15 yards. Morris' scoring came on a pair of 1-yard blasts.
Smith finished with 122 yards on 17 carries and David King had 129 yards passing, including the 49-yard TD.
Besides not turning the ball over, the Braves forced Glide into three miscues, recovering a fumble and getting interceptions from sophomore defensive backs Kole Freestone and Christoffersen.
Christoffersen also gave the Braves a boost with his special teams play.
“Our kickoff returns were real strong again this game,” Chase said. “Cory set us up for a short field.”
On defense, Chase said Cesar Lira, Jeff Wilmarth, Robert Christy and Ismael Osorio all had strong games.
Chase said the strong finish to this season bodes well for coming seasons.
“We played five teams that are in the playoffs,” Chase said. “This was a good schedule for us. The goal is always to make the playoffs, which we fell a little short of, but I'm really proud of these kids.
“For next year, all our underclassmen got starting varsity experience this year,” he said. “These kids will work hard in the offseason.”
